[ The short version ]

  1. 01Konga's Yakata Black Friday sale runs from 1 to 30 November, with flash sales, live auctions and brand days from 11 partner brands.
  2. 02Any purchase on the Konga app until 30 December enters a draw for a new SUV, which Konga's blog names as a Changan CS15 from Mikano.
  3. 03The prize only counts for app orders, so the draw is Konga's way of moving shoppers onto its app while Jumia runs its own month-long sale.

Konga has opened its Black Friday season with a prize that only counts if you shop on its app. The Lagos-based online retailer's Yakata Black Friday sale runs from 1 to 30 November, and every purchase made through the Konga app until 30 December enters a draw for a brand-new SUV, according to the company's announcement carried by Nairametrics and a 5 November report by BusinessDay.

Konga's own blog names the car as a Changan CS15, part of a new partnership with the motor company Mikano. The blog post says the winner is picked at random and that there is no large spending threshold; it gives the smallest qualifying order as ₦1,000 in one line and ₦500 in another, and no draw date. Konga says terms and conditions apply.

What is on sale

Beyond the car, the month-long sale is built around formats Konga says will keep shoppers coming back:

  • Discounts, flash sales and "Blackout Hour" deals on selected products.
  • Yakata Live: live shows on Instagram and Facebook every Wednesday and Friday with auctions, giveaways and live-only deals.
  • Brand Days from 11 partners: Samsung, Zinox, Midea, ASUS, Kenwood, LG, Carrier & Mel, Mama Home, Vital Products, Anker and Guinness.
  • Same-day delivery through KongaNow on products with its badge, in supported locations.

Irfan Vayani, a senior vice-president at Konga Group, called Yakata "more than just a sales event" and said the company is "going bigger and better" this year. Konga has not published discount levels, sales targets or the value of the prize.

Why the app matters

Tying the draw to the app is the strategic part. An app gives a retailer a direct line back to its shoppers, through notifications and saved details, that a one-off website visit does not. BusinessDay frames the campaign as a push for app transactions, new customers and repeat purchases at a time when Nigerian shoppers are more careful with money, and says the real test is whether customers keep buying after Black Friday ends.

Konga is not alone in stretching the season. Jumia opened its Black Friday a month early, on 29 October, after a 2025 event that brought in 3.2 million orders across its markets. Both retailers are now running sales that cover the whole of November; Konga is the one adding a car to the pitch.
