Corrections and standards
How we source, check and correct what we publish, and what you can hold us to.

What we cover
TheStak reports on technology, AI, marketing and innovation, starting from Nigeria and Africa and keeping the world in view.
Sourcing
- Every reported story links the sources it relies on, at the bottom of the story.
- Figures come from those sources. When a number is a company's own claim, we say so.
- When we could not open or verify a primary source, the story says that in a note, and names what it relied on instead.
- Each story carries the date it was reported. Older background is labelled with its original date.
Images
Each story carries a credit under its featured image. Press images are credited to the company or outlet that supplied them. File photos are labelled as file photos, with the photographer and licence. Images generated for illustration are labelled as such.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help research and draft. An editor reviews every story before it is published, and the sources linked in each story are the ones to check.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a dated correction note at the top or bottom of the story. We do not quietly rewrite facts. To report an error, email hello@readthestak.com with the story, the sentence and the correct fact with a source. See also Contact.
Independence
Sponsored or partner content, if we ever run it, will be labelled as such and kept separate from reporting.
