Privacy policy
What we collect when you read TheStak, how we use it and the choices you have.
Last updated 16 October 2026
The short version
We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell personal data, and reading the site does not require an account.
What we collect
- Visit statistics. We use a privacy-friendly analytics service that counts page views, referrers, countries and devices. It does not use cookies and does not build profiles of individual visitors.
- Server logs. Our web host records standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and reliability.
- Your preferences. If you switch between light and dark theme, your choice is saved in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to us.
- Email. If you subscribe to a newsletter or write to us, we receive your email address and what you tell us. Newsletter signups are processed by our email provider.
How we use it
To understand which stories are useful, to keep the site secure and working, to send you the newsletter if you asked for it, and to reply to messages.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers that run the site and the newsletter, and where the law requires it. Links to other sites, including social networks, are governed by their own policies.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from any email at any time, and you can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you by emailing hello@readthestak.com. We handle personal data in line with applicable data protection law, including Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above.
