Apple will hold a special event called Pro and Tell on Wednesday 28 October at 10am Pacific time in Los Angeles, 9to5Mac reported on Monday 19 October. That is 6pm in Lagos, 7pm in Johannesburg and 8pm in Nairobi. Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak sent the invitation artwork to press and posted it with the line "Can't wait to pro and tell next week", according to Macworld.
It is Apple's second event this month. On 13 October, at Welcome Home in New York, the company introduced the HomeView smart home display, the HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K, 9to5Mac notes. Two named events in sixteen days, each with a pun for a title, is unusual even for Apple.
A showcase, not a keynote
Macworld reports that Apple is billing the day as another Apple Experience, a format for invited press rather than a full keynote, and expects a set of press releases on apple.com with a video or two. The article does not mention a livestream. MacStories says its editor-in-chief Federico Viticci will attend in person.
The invitation itself names no products. The glowing, layered Apple logo in the artwork has prompted speculation about a display-led launch, but that is speculation.
What reporters expect
- New 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with touchscreens and OLED displays, the first Macs with a Dynamic Island, significantly lighter than today's, on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman as cited by 9to5Mac.
- A revamped iPad mini with an OLED screen, new speakers and a relocated FaceTime camera.
- A new iMac and an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro on the M6 chip, which Gurman expects to look like the current models.
Macworld adds that the touchscreen models may cost more than the current M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros, and that Apple might release some products in the days before the event, as it did with the MacBook Neo in March. None of this is confirmed by Apple.
