Apple has named its price for the folding iPhone: $1,999. The iPhone Duo was the headline of Apple's event on 9 September, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, new Apple Watches and AirPods.
What $1,999 buys
The Duo opens from a 5.4-inch outer screen to a 7.6-inch inner screen and uses the same A20 Pro chip as the iPhone 18 Pro, in a titanium body rated IP68, according to Popular Science. Apple built camera features around the outer screen, including a live preview that shows the person being photographed how the shot looks.
The crease is still the open question. Apple says a nano-texture finish and custom adhesives reduce it. Reviewers will judge that once the phone ships.
The other price story
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max start at $1,199 and $1,299, a $100 increase on last year's models, CNBC reports. Apple raised prices on Macs and iPads over the summer as memory and storage costs climbed, and the new phones follow the same pattern. The Apple Watch Series 12 stays at $399.
How the market took it
CNBC reports that the Duo's price was in line with competitors and lower than much of what Wall Street had expected. Investors were still unimpressed: Apple's stock was down for almost the entire presentation, according to CNBC.
