A One-Page Launch Plan for a Small Product

Before the logo and the landing page: six questions a launch should answer.

[ The short version ]

  1. 01Name one customer and one problem before you name a channel.
  2. 02Pick one place to find your first fifty users and go deep there.
  3. 03Decide in advance what a good first week looks like.

Most small launches fail by being vague. A single page can fix that, if it answers six questions.

  • Who is the one customer?

Not an audience. One kind of person, in one situation.

  • What is the one problem?

If you need two sentences to describe it, it is two products.

  • Where are the first fifty?

A group chat, a campus, a forum, a network. Pick one.

  • What do they see first?

The page, the demo or the message that decides whether they stay.

  • What does a good first week look like?

Write the number down before launch so you cannot move it later.

  • Who will you ask for feedback?

Name five people, and ask them in person.

  • #Go-to-market
  • #Startups
