Google wants the Gemini app to be where a small business does its marketing and its books. In a blog post on 20 October, Vishnu Sivaji, senior director for the Gemini app, announced a business landing page where owners can build their brand, analyse finances, review customer insights and manage daily tasks.
Google says the landing page, its marketing and finance skills and the connected apps begin rolling out globally to all Gemini app users in the coming days. The post does not say whether any of it requires a paid plan.
What it does
- Brand style: upload your website, brand kit, fonts or colour palette once, and Gemini keeps it for later visuals, using Google's Nano Banana 2.1 image model
- Finance: turn spreadsheets, receipts and purchase records into charts and interactive models
- Connected apps: Google Business Profile, Google Ads and Workspace, plus Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, Shopify, Wix, Zoho and Xero
Why it matters for African sellers
Most small businesses in Lagos, Nairobi or Accra do not have a designer on call. A tool that remembers a shop's colours and fonts and turns a product photo into on-brand ads closes some of that gap, and the Google Ads and Business Profile links put the output close to where customers search. The finance tools could also help owners who keep their records in spreadsheets and receipts.
There are limits. Google's post names a ceramicist as its example user and gives no figures on adoption or pricing, and the quality of AI-made marketing still needs a human check before it goes out. Larger firms that want admin controls and data governance are pointed to Google's separate Gemini for business offer.
