Airtel Money, the mobile money arm of Airtel Africa, is now a listed company in London. Its shares began trading on 9 October at £1.96 each, valuing the business at about $7 billion, and formal admission to the London Stock Exchange followed on 14 October.
Who sold, who bought
No new shares were created. Existing shareholders sold 270 million shares for about $703 million, Reuters reports. Airtel Africa, which owned nearly 78% of Airtel Money before the listing, remains the majority owner. The International Finance Corporation committed up to £67.2 million, about $90 million, to buy shares at the offer price, according to The Condia.
It was London's largest listing since Fermi's dual listing in September 2025, according to Dealogic data cited by Reuters. The debut was muted: the shares rose to £2.00 on the first day, then slipped to £1.93.
The business
Airtel Money runs in 13 African markets, including Kenya, Malawi and Tanzania, and has more than 53 million monthly active users. It made $1.346 billion in revenue in the year to 31 March 2026, with an EBITDA margin of about 50%, The Condia reports. Earlier reports had suggested a valuation of $8 billion to $9 billion; a 2021 investment valued it at $2.65 billion.
